STEP 1

Catch some tourney fish!

During this event, you can catch special tourney fish at Saltwater Shores. You can use these fish to complete tasks in the Fishing Tourney!


You'll recognize a tourney fish by its sparkling shadow in the water. When you see one, try to catch it!

STEP 2

Give your fish to Chip!


After you catch some tourney fish, bring them to Chip, and he'll measure them for you.

If you reach a total-size goal, Chip will give you a reward! ♪


Check out all those cool rewards! How many do you think you'll get?


Chip Challenges

During the event, you will receive rewards for completing Chip Challenges!


After you complete a challenge, press the Claim button next to your reward in the Chip Challenges list!


Helpful Tools

Catch two fish at once with the golden rod!

Sometimes it's possible to catch two tourney fish at once with a normal fishing rod, but...if you use Leaf Tickets to rent the Golden Rod from Chip, you'll catch two tourney fish each time, so long as tourney fish are available to be caught!

  • ※ Only tourney fish can be caught two at a time. Regular fish can only be caught one at a time.


Catch lots of fish with the tourney throw net!

You can catch many tourney fish at once by using the Tourney Throw Net!

Win a Trophy

After the Fishing Tourney ends, all players who turned in at least one fish to Chip will receive a trophy corresponding to the total size of their tourney fish.

Don't forget to log in after the Fishing Tourney is over!

  • ※ Your trophy will be delivered to your mailbox and available for pickup from Mar. 20, 2018 at 6:00 a.m. (UTC) to Mar. 23, 2018 at 5:59 a.m. (UTC)


Make a Splash with New Terrain


You can now decorate your campsite with new terrain parts in exchange for Leaf Tickets.


Try combining these terrain parts with rewards from the Fishing Tourney for the ultimate aquatic campsite look!


Notes

The first Fishing Tourney runs from Mar. 15, 2018 at 6:00 a.m. (UTC) to Mar. 20, 2018 at 5:59 a.m. (UTC)

From Mar. 20, 2018 at 6:00 a.m. (UTC) until refresh time, if you try to use sea throw net, tourney throw net, med. throw net, lg. throw net, or lg. tourney throw net, a message reading "Sorry, the Fishing Tourney is now over." will be displayed.

If the above message is displayed, no items or Leaf Tickets will be expended.


Any trophies from the Fishing Tourney will be sent to your mailbox and can be redeemed from Mar. 20, 2018 at 6:00 a.m. (UTC) to Mar. 23, 2018 at 5:59 a.m. (UTC)


Available Tourney Fish

The following tourney fish can be caught at Saltwater Shores for a limited time. Catch these fish to reach total-size goals and receive rewards.


Total-Size Rewards

The following rewards can be claimed by delivering tourney fish to Chip and reaching total-size goals. The rewards you receive will vary depending on the total size you've reached.


Total Size of 250, 500, and 750 cm


Total Size of 1,000, 1,250, 1,500, 1,750, 2,000, 2,250, 2,500, and 2,750 cm


Total Size of 3,000, 3,250, 3,500, 3,750, 4,000, and 4,250 cm


Total Size of 4,850 cm and Every 600 cm beyond That


Chip Challenge Prizes


  • ※ Information about the challenges can be found in the Fishing Tourney menu under Goals and then Chip Challenges.


Fishing Tourney Trophies

After the event ends, all players who turned in at least one fish to Chip will receive a trophy corresponding to the total size of their tourney fish.

When the event period is over, the following tool will no longer be available:

When the event period is over, the following rental item will no longer be available:

  • Golden Rod
  • ※ If you rented a golden rod, it will be returned to Chip and you'll get your regular fishing rod back. If you want to use a golden rod again in future Fishing Tourneys, you will need to rent one again.


When the event period is over, tourney fish that you have not given to Chip will disappear from your inventory.

  • Clown Fish
  • Surgeonfish
  • Barred Knifejaw
  • ※ However, if you log in while the trophy is available for pickup, the tourney fish in your inventory will be automatically measured and reflected in your total-size record. If there are still rewards that you could have received by turning these fish in, they will be sent to your mailbox. If you log in after the trophy-pickup period, you will be unable to collect your rewards.


When the event period is over, Chip Challenges will end and you will be unable to collect your rewards.

  • ※ However, if you log in while the trophy is available for pickup, rewards you have not yet received will be sent to your mailbox regardless of whether you have completed the challenges or not. If you log in after the trophy-pickup period, you will be unable to collect your rewards.


Trophies will remain in your mailbox past the cutoff date, but the trophy rank-up message will not be displayed.

It is also possible that your Fishing Tourney records will not be properly saved on your trophy, so we highly recommend logging in during the pickup period to claim your trophy.
